During the National Pollen Day 2011, the Italian Association of Aerobiology (A.I.A.®) is pleased to introduce a new column “ Aerobiology: in Europe and in the World” in which you can access from the web pages of A.I.A.® web site. The new column will be possible thanks to the cooperation and contributions of some important international  aerobiology colleagues.

On the A.I.A.® web site, in the English pages (www.ilpolline.it/), will be available a short report that will show the realty of aerobiological monitoring in other countries and some insight regarding the topics covered by our discipline.

We believe that this initiative represents a further contribution to the development and dissemination of research and knowledge in aerobiological field and highlights how our Association will express efforts that requires daily monitoring activity carried out in every centre.

The first four contributions come from France,  Lithuania and Germany with the invaluable collaboration of Michel Thibaudon Chief of France aerobiological monitoring network,  of Ingrida Šaulienė Assoc. Prof. of Department of Environmental Research, Siauliai University, Vilniaus, of Jeroen Buters  Coordinator of European project HIALINE and Bernhard Weber Project leader HIALINE for Allergopharma.

A new report from Matt Smith, National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit, University of Worcester. Another report from Lukasz Grewling Laboratory of Aeropalynology, Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland and from Rui Brandao,  Head of Laboratory of Palynology and Aerobiology Dept. of Biology, University of Evora, Portugal
